There are a number of key ways in which spyware can affect your system, and this can help to alert you to its presence:
•    Pop up advertisements – one way in which spyware is used is to record what websites you are visiting to indicate to advertisers the types of things you are interested in, so that they can target their campaigns at you more effectively.  If you have spyware on your system you may find an increasing number of unwanted pop ups occurring for things not related to the website you are visiting at the time, and some of these can even contain adult or offensive content.
